Many contemporary Islamic sects claim their beliefs and practises are derived from the teachings of Prophet Muhammed ﷺ and the early generations of Muslims who are commonly referred to as the salaf us saalih or the pious predecessors.
However when we analyse these groups and their beliefs, it is clear that they actually oppose the early generations of Muslims in both belief and action.
In order to make this judgement, it is imperative for one to familiarise themselves with the actual teachings and beliefs held by the early generations of Muslims who lived in close proximity to the Prophet Muhammed’s (ﷺ) time. This can be done by studying the works of classical scholars who documented and authored books of aqeedah during their era.
One such classical works that has survived until our time is called Aqeedah ar Raaziyayn based upon the works of Abu Zurah ar Raazi (d.264H) and Abu Hatim ar Raazi (d.277H).
We recommend everyone to listen to and take benefit from this lecture series by Abul Abbaas Naveed Ayaaz in order to know whether they are truly upon the same beliefs that were held by the pious predecessors.
