The Palestinian Crisis by Shaykh Abdulkareem al-Khudheir

The Palestinian Crisis: Are The Rulers to Blame? Isn’t this Ummah Aided By Allaah!?

Shaykh Abdulkareem al-Khudheir
Translation: Abu Waheeda as-Salafi

‘The weakness which has succumbed the Ummah- its responsibility is not carried by one person individually- rather all [of the Ummah at all levels] from the past; until what is the present time.
This is because now; we are living in the repercussions of the negligence of the past – and we are still living it. Thus it [the responsibility] cannot be carried by an individual who came at the end [of decades of negligence].1
But it is upon this person to exert his effort in trying to raise the status of this Ummah; even if it is by just him rectifying himself, and rectifying his societyof which there is no one who can stop him from that. And this matter [of each individual rectifying himself and those he can] is of great importance [plays a major role] in raising the status of the [whole] Ummah.
So the blame should not be carried by one person who came later on.
And the reasons [for the present situation] are traced back to hundreds of years. But even on top of that; it is upon the heads who are present now, to rectify their souls and their immediate communities.
Certainly when the society is rectified – then there is no doubt that Allaah The Mighty The Majestic – will lift this tribulation from this Ummah, and this weakness, and this humiliation.
[And in reality] humiliation is what has been struck – until the Last Day – on the jews, and it will not be lifted from them except by except under a covenant (of protection) from Allâh, or from the people 2 : and it is known that the protection from Allaah is cut-off [from them], but what is remaining is the support from the people. Meaning if America was to cease; the jews would become alone – if they were not to find another [staunch and all-out] supporter- and thus they would not survive even one day!!
But the ‘protection from the people’ is still attached to them – and this is the reason of their being [what they are right now]- but if she who support them was to cease; this ‘protection’ would end, ‘the protection from the people’ would have ended. And [truly] them [by themselves]; they are nothing – not in numbers nor strength – Indignity and destruction is put over them wherever they may be.
And thus someone might say: ‘How do the brethren of swine and pigs have the upper hand over the best Ummah among all the other Nations !? And they kill what they kill, And they plot and play around with their societies – while they are those who are weak and those whom Indignity and destruction is put over them wherever they may be- !??’
[The answer is that] Its reason is that this Ummah – which is the best people ever raised up for mankind – has deviated from the reasons [and means] to strength, and victory, and establishment.
Indeed – by the explicit text – it is the best Ummah:

“You [true believers in Islâmic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad (sallahAllaahu alayhi wasallam) and his Sunnah (legal ways, etc.)] are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind..” [Al-‘Imraan (3):110]

So by the fact that [the best Ummah] are on the lower hand of these putrid ones, [then know for a fact that] this is from the ways of being humiliated by going against the commands of Allaah and the Legislation of Allaah.
Because if a strong Ummah – like it – was to gain the upper hand over them, then this would not really distinguish the humiliation, unlike when they are being lower to those who are supposed to be lower to them! Meaning if a strong big man was to come and kill a strong man; then there is no real problem [or strangeness] here, but when the most lowly and weak of men comes and kills the greatest of
men; what do you think!?
So it is outrageous in the highest form. And this [humiliation on the Muslims] is by their degree of going against the commands of Allaah, and His Legislation. And All Help is from Allaah.
In the Tafsir of Suratun-Nisaa; Imaam Ibn Katheer (rahimahullaah) mentioned a story about a servant who used to serve a people. So at a time when his employer was pregnant and was getting her labour pains; he saw a dream and therein a person said to him: ‘Your master shall give birth to a daughter – and this daughter will commit fornication for about a hundred times – and then after; you will marry her, and she will die from a spider!’
And [of course] he does not want to marry [such] a fornicator. So what happened?
[Time passed and] when his master gave birth, it was said to him: ‘get a knife so that we cut the umbilical cord’, so he went [and caught the opportunity] and instead he stabbed the stomach of the young child, and then fled to a far land.
He stayed there for twenty years and started therein trading; and became from the rich and the famous.
Then he returned back to the land knowing that the child had died and the whole thing has been forgotten. So he returned; and sought to get married.
Thus he requested from an [old] woman; that she find for him the most beautiful young woman in the land.
And she replied: ‘I know this young woman and she is the most beautiful in this land.’
So she proposed for him this woman, and he got married to her, and loved her greatly and became attached to her – and so did she.
Thus [once] she asked her about who he was, and where he is from?
And he informed him of his story and what happened;
And [amazed] she replied to him: ‘Indeed I am that girl !!!’
He says: ‘You are her!? ’
She says: ‘Yes.’
So he said: ‘Well then there has to be a confirmation of that….’
Thus she showed him the scar of the knife, and indeed he realized it!!
So he said to her: ‘And you have committed zinaa with a hundred men!?’
She replied: ‘Something like that happened, but I don’t know the exact number.’ [In another narration she said: ‘I have left off what I used to do. And I am not going back to it.]’
And as it happened that he had became attached to her, and loved her greatly; so he did not seek to separate from her.
So he informed her: ‘All has happened, and I also saw that your demise would be through a spider.’
And because of his love for her; he built for her – on the suburbs of the city – a great palace with complete security so that he can protect her from that.
And they lived for the period they were destined to; until one day when they were sitting together, when he showed her a spider on the ceiling and said: ‘By Allaah I see a spider on the ceiling!!’
So she got up and said to him: ‘is this the one you say is the reason for my death [while knowing how weak and frail the spider is !!] indeed I will kill it before it kills me.’
So the man [for his love] got up and took off the spider from the ceiling; wanting to kill it, but she got up and said: ‘By Allaah there is no one who will kill it except me.’ And she stepped on it, but it happened that when she crushed it; some of the poison of the spider entered between her toe nail and her flesh.
So this resulted into a wound, and slowly, and slowly it grew; it continued until eventually it caused her death !!’ 3
So look; what overcame this great, rich, and powerful man?
Meaning if a lion was to come trying to hunt his wife then there is no problem; it could be legitimate [and reasonable; due to the power of the lion], but a spider!!?
The [frail] spider annihilates the most precious thing to him and he cannot even protect her!
Now this is humility, this is the peak of indignity and lowliness: just as the brethren of swine and monkeys – the most lowly and despicable of the people – have gained strength over the best peoples ever raised up for mankind.
And Allaah is The Helper.
A reminder:
Allaah The Exalted says:

“Whatever misfortune befalls you, is for what your own hands have earned, and He pardons much.” [Ash-Shoora (42):30]

1 May Allaah have mercy on the shaykh; indeed this is a scholarly insight which most of us don’t seem to figure out. Especially those who are hasty in pointing fingers, and those who have corrupt ideologies. So let’s take heed.
2 Allaah says: “Indignity is put over them wherever they may be, except when under a covenant (of protection) from Allâh, and from men; they have drawn on themselves the Wrath of Allâh, and destruction is put over them. This is because they disbelieved in the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh and killed the Prophets without right. This is because they disobeyed (Allâh) and used to transgress beyond bounds (in Allâh’s disobedience, crimes and sins).”
[Aal-Imraan (3):112]
